Web-based Job Search Tools
- Symplicity – We strongly recommend bookmarking NUSL's Symplicity job site. Sign up to receive alerts on a regular basis from our Office about new jobs available for 3Ls and recent graduates. Employers post opportunities on Symplicity directly, so you can continue to use it as a resource to find jobs even after you have graduated.
- LinkedIn – We recommend creating a profile and updating it regularly. You can browse the alumni tab and use the Job Search and Job Alert tools to identify jobs that match your criteria and are in your target geography.
- NUSL's Office of New Markets – This site highlights career paths outside of the traditional legal sphere.
- Indeed – Use Indeed as a streamlined way to find listed jobs, without creating a social network profile. Indeed offers salary estimates for opportunities, but they are not always accurate.
- Law Jobs – Like Indeed and Glassdoor, this is an online tool for searching jobs, focused solely on practicing attorney jobs.
Public Interest-Specific Resources
- PSJD – A national resource for public service legal positions. Registering as a new user is free for NUSL students. It offers access to a searchable database of public interest legal jobs, fellowships, internships, and volunteer opportunities. In addition, the site offers valuable career building resources and employer profiles.
- Idealist – A database for jobs, internships, and volunteer opportunities with non-profit organizations and government agencies. Create a login to receive email alerts for positions that meet your search criteria. Idealist is widely used by public interest employers in New England and in other parts of the U.S. as well.
- Immigration Legal Services Organizations by State – This site, organized by Immigration Advocates Network, includes a directory of legal aid organizations by state. When looking for a volunteer opportunity in immigration law, this is a helpful resource.
- Legal Services List by State – This list, organized by FindLaw.com, includes a directory of legal aid organizations by state. It is helpful to identify organizations of interest and to use as a networking tool.
- MA Legal Services Organizations – This list of legal services providers in MA can help identify organizations that of interest and to connect with to inquire about opportunities – be it networking, jobs or volunteering.
Government Job Search Tools
- USAJobs – This site lists positions with the federal government. Note that only certain non-US citizens are eligible to work for the US government.
- Arizona Handbooks – A database for government honors programs at the federal, state, and local levels. Opportunities are listed by deadline and/or agency. (Access using password: socialjustice)
- Mass.gov – This site lists positions with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, including with the District Attorney and Committee for Public Counsel Services (CPCS).
- StateJobsNY – This site lists positions with the State of New York – both legal and non-legal.
